Ras Al Khaimah: The Emir of Ras Al Khaimah, His Royal Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi (pictured second from left) hosted the delegations involved in the ongoing AFC U-19 Championship in this emirate at his Royal Palace on Saturday.
AFC Acting President Zhang Jilong (extreme right), UAE Football Association President Yousuf Al Serkal (second from right), who is also the AFC Vice-President, AFC General Secretary Dato’ Alex Soosay (extreme left), head of delegations of finalists Iraq and Korea Republic and representatives from the LOC met HRH Sheikh Saud and thanked him for his support in hosting this competition in this emirate.
HRH Sheikh Saud thanked AFC for choosing Ras Al Khaimah as a venue to host this championship.
“I would like to thank AFC for choosing Ras Al Khaimah as one of the venues to host this prestigious competition and we would be looking forward to hosting more AFC competitions in the future,” he said.
He hoped that all the delegations and teams were happy with their stay in Ras Al Khaimah and wished Iraq and Korea Republic luck for the final today.
Jilong thanked HRH the Emir for the support and cooperation given by all the stakeholders in hosting a very successful competition.
“I would like to thank HRH Sheikh Saud for the support given by all the stakeholders in making this competition a big success in this beautiful emirate of Ras Al Khaimah,” he said.
“This is an ideal venue to host international football competitions and that was the reason why AFC selected this city to be the host of AFC U-19 Championship and FIFA also selected this as one of the venues to host FIFA U-17 World Cup next year.”
Al Serkal thanked HRH the Emir for paying attention to football which made Ras Al Khaimah a centre of attraction globally.
“I would like to thank HRH Sheikh Saud for paying attention to football, which propelled Ras Al Khaimah as one of the best destination for international football,” he said referring to the ongoing AFC U-19 Championship, next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup and the planned Real Madrid Resort Island.
