Dhaka: Substitute Ali Hussein Fendi scored twice in the space of a minute as Iraq opened their 2012 AFC U-19 Championship qualifying campaign with an emphatic 6-0 win over Group A hosts Bangladesh.
Fendi, who replaced Ali Qasim Mshari, the scorer of Iraq's second goal, three minutes into the second half got his first and the Iraqis fifth in the 85th minute before rounding off the victory just a minute later.
Dhurgham Al Quraishi opened the scoring with a 10th minute penalty before Mshari struck in the 22nd minute to give Iraq a two goal cushion going into the break.
Ali Adnan Kadhim made it 3-0 eight minutes after the restart and Mohanad Abdulkareem Karrar added number four before Fendi's quickfire double added the finishing touch on a comfortable win.
Meanwhile, Oman bounced back from their 4-0 defeat to Saudi Arabia in the opening match of their Group A campaign as the Gulf sultanate defeated the Maldives with an identical scoreline despite playing the majority of the match with ten men.
For the second consecutive game Oman had a player sent off with defender Nadir Mabrook receiving his marching orders in the 23rd minute of Wednesday's match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium to follow goalkeeper Shawqi Al Maawali's dismissal 20 minutes into Monday's opener against the Saudis.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Oman took control of the match as Khalid Al Hajri opened the scoring on the half-hour-mark before the Maldives conceded a penalty four minutes before the interval which was successfully converted by Hatem Al Hamhami.
Mahmood Nasib added a third two minutes into the second-half and with four minutes left to play Mohamed Al Habsi - a 71st minute replacement for Nasib - netted Oman's fourth.
