Jiangyin: AFC U23 Championship debutants Palestine may have suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Japan in their Group B opener on Wednesday, but Elkayed Mohammed and Mohammed Rashid believe the team gained confidence despite the defeat.
Palestine began the match more patient of the two teams and after conceding a goal in the 20th minute, began to play more aggressively, with Mohammed admitting the team lacked confidence in front of the goalmouth
“It was a tough game, in the first half we were a bit shaky, a bit nervous but after the goal we gained confidence and started taking it man to man,” said the 20-year-old defender, who plays for Swedish Football Division 2 side KSF Prespa Birlik.

Jiangyin: DPR Korea captain Song Kum-song has attributed his team’s 1-0 win against Thailand in Group B of the AFC U23 Championship China 2018 on Wednesday to a team effort.
Song, however, admitted that the young Chollima were anxious prior to the match and it affected the way they played.
“It was just the first match, but we could have played much better but were a bit nervous,” said the defender who turns 23 in April.
“We had a few chances to score, but couldn't finish. If we had scored two or three more goals, that would have meant that we played better.
“As the captain, I didn’t play well and made some bad passes, but the whole team played well together.”

Jiangyin: Japan got their defence of the AFC U23 Championship title with a 1-0 win over Palestine in their Group B opener on Wednesday.
Ko Itakura’s first half goal sealed victory for Japan, placing them level with DPR Korea at the top of the standings.
Japan dominated possession in the opening minutes and in their first real attempt, Shion Inoue picked up a loose ball in the box but struck the bar in the fifth minute at the Jiangyin Stadium.
Palestine, however, held formation tightly and looked to play on the counter, but Ko found an opening and was left unguarded after dribbling outside the box to hit home in the 20th minute.
Whenever in possession, Ayman Sandouqa’s charges tried to make the best of every run, but the defending champions were apt in defensive situations.

Jiangyin: Ri Hun’s second minute goal secured DPR Korea a 1-0 win over Thailand in Group B of the AFC U23 Championship China 2018 on Wednesday.
The win for DPR Korea meant they continued their undefeated streak since the Qualifiers last July.
DPR Korea took an early lead after Ri Hun beat goalkeeper Nont Muangngam to open the scoring in the second minute, courtesy of Choe Ju-song’s through pass.
The synergy between Ri Hun, An Song-il and Jo Kwang-myong was impressive, as they pounded the Thai defence with a barrage of attempts.
In the 30th minute, Kwang-myong dribbled through the middle, before passing to Kim Yu-song but his shot struck the bar
