AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™ draw set to reveal exciting battles

Kuala Lumpur: The spotlight will be on the stars of Asian women’s football when the leading 12 teams discover their opponents at the anticipated AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™ draw ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, October 28, 2021.

The excitement around Asia’s marquee women’s national team competition is starting to build following the completion of the enthralling qualifiers where Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Korea Republic, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam secured their spots to the Finals.

They will join the top three teams from the 2018 showpiece – Japan, Australia and China PR – alongside host India when the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™ takes place from January 20 to February 6 with the theme ‘Our Goal for All’.

Qualifiers - Group K: Japan sizzle in win over Cambodia

Futaba: Japan got their AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 qualifying campaign off to a great start with a 4-0 win over Cambodia at the J-Village Stadium on Tuesday.

Koichi Togashi’s side scored two goals in either half to secure victory and will top Group K by avoiding defeat against Hong Kong - who lost their opener 4-2 to Cambodia - on Thursday.

Cambodia’s hopes of advancing to Uzbekistan 2022 now depend on finishing as one of the best four runners-up.

Qualifiers - Group F: Jordan edge Turkmenistan to get on course

Amman: Jordan defeated Turkmenistan 1-0 in Group F of the AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 qualifiers at the King Abdullah II Stadium in Amman, Jordan on Monday.

Turkmenistan will now have to defeat  Palestine in the three-team group on Thursday while Jordan - who face their West Asian counterparts three days later - are comfortably placed to advance to Uzbekistan 2022.

Qualifiers - Group C: Iraq lay down early marker with victory over Maldives

Arad: Iraq opened their AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 Group C qualifying campaign with a 4-0 victory over Maldives at the Sheikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium on Monday.

Maldives defended valiantly but had to concede to Iraq’s superiority with Miroslav Soukup’s side scoring twice in each half for the points.

Maldives must win against Bahrain on Thursday to stay in contention while Iraq will seal top spot by defeating their West Asian counterparts on Sunday.

Qualifiers - Group H: Winning start for Korea Republic in title defence; Singapore, Timor-Leste settle for draw

Singapore: Korea Republic opened their AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 Qualifiers campaign with an emphatic 3-0 win over Philippines in Group H action on Monday, while Singapore fought back to salvage a 2-2 draw with Timor-Leste in the day’s later match. 

After a goalless first 45 minutes, the young Taeguk Warriors turned on the power in the second half with three players finding the back of the net to secure the points at the Jalan Besar Stadium. 

Singapore came back from a goal down after opening the scoring against Timor-Leste to a 2-2 draw, as both sides secured a point on the opening day.

Bhayangkara remain top in Indonesia after edging Bali United, while there were also wins for Persib Bandung and Persija Jakarta.
