Vila Real de Santo Antonio: Yang Li’s second-half strike ensured China began their quest for a third Algarve Cup title on a positive note with the Steel Roses edging Norway 1-0 in their Group A opener on Wednesday.
The match was deadlocked until the 75th minute when Yang Li netted the winner for the 1999 and 2002 champions.
China, who are using the 12-team Algarve Cup to prepare for the 2014 AFC Women’s Asian Cup taking place in Vietnam in May, are next in action on Friday when they head to Albufeira to face Women’s football powerhouse Germany, who opened their campaign with an emphatic 5-0 win over Iceland.
