West Bank: Yee Yee Oo scored six times as Myanmar pummelled Palestine 9-0 in their second match on Group D of the 2014 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers on Thursday.
Palestine went into the match looking to avoid a similar heavy defeat they suffered at the hands of Chinese Taipei, when they shipped three goals in a five minute spell just before half-time to ultimately lose 6-0.
But for a second time the Group D hosts were left counting the cost of losing concentration after conceding, with Hani Al Majdoubah’s side letting in three in seven first-half minutes before Oo netted five in the last quarter-of-an-hour.
Midfielder Khin Moe Wa, who was on target in the 2-0 opening match win over India on Tuesday, broke the deadlock in the 17th minute and added her second and Myanmar’s third in the 26th minute, two minutes after Oo had bagged the first of her six-goal haul.
Palestine held out until the 67th minute when substitute Margret Marri, a 36th minute replacement for Naw Ar Lo Wer Phaw, scorer of Myanmar’s opener against India, made it 4-0 before Oo went on an incredible run with goals in the 74th, 77th, 80th, 85th and 88th minutes to register a double hat-trick and complete the 9-0 rout.
