Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Qualifiers draw for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Preliminary Competition and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 will be held on July 17, 2019 at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – providing Asia’s top 40 nations with their pathway to glory.
The seedings for the draw will be based on the latest FIFA Rankings issued on June 14, 2019 and following the conclusion of the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1 where Bangladesh, Cambodia, Guam, Malaysia and Mongolia - advanced to Round 2.
The decision on the outcome of the match between Macau and Sri Lanka is still pending.

Dhaka: Bangladesh's determination held off Laos as the South Asians advanced to the next stage of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 Joint Qualification on Tuesday.

Cambodia staged a come from behind win as they defeated Pakistan 2-1 in the second leg in Doha to advance 4-1 on aggregate.

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia head coach Tan Cheng Hoe stressed there is still work to be done after his team defeated Timor-Leste 5-1 in the second leg in their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 Preliminary Joint Qualification, advancing 12-2 on aggregate.
The former Kedah head coach made four changes to his line-up from their 7-1 victory in the first leg last week, bringing in Muhd Syazwan Andik, Shahrel Fikri, Akhyar and goalkeeper Mohd Ifwat Kamal.
The changes did little to dent Malaysia’s attacking prowess as the Harimau Malaya put three goals past the Timorese in the first half and added two more after the break.

Having won the first leg 2-0 last Thursday, Cambodia started with a massive advantage, but the Pakistanis, cheered on loudly by some 250 odd spectators, gave them a serious scare before losing steam midway through the second half and crashing to a 2-1 defeat in the hot and humid Qatari capital.
