Jamie Day signs two-year extension with Bangladesh

Dhaka: Bangladesh Football Federation has extended the contract of head coach Jamie Day for two years. 

"I just want to confirm I have agreed a new two-year deal as the head coach and am really looking forward to working with BFF again," said Day.

"I am obviously excited about getting back and working with the national team players."

Bishkek: Uzbekistan’s Super League returned after a three-month hiatus, and it didn’t disappoint, with two of the country’s biggest clubs falling victim to shock defeats.

Defending champions FC Pakhtakor suffered their first defeat in any competition in 2020, falling 1-0 to Sogdiana, while PFC Lokomotiv were beaten at home by Metallurg, who won 3-0.

Champs Yokohama F Marinos to face Urawa Reds in J-League restart

Tokyo: Reigning champions Yokohama F Marinos will face Urawa Reds at Saitama Stadium when the J-League first division resumes on July 4, according to the new match schedule.

The league announced revised schedules for all three divisions, with clubs playing against opponents from the same region throughout July to limit travel while the risk of coronavirus infection remains high.

All matches will initially take place behind closed doors, with the league planning to gradually readmit spectators to stadiums from July 10.

Gabi bids farewell to Al Sadd

Doha: Fourteen-time Qatar Stars League champions Al Sadd SC announced on Monday that Spanish midfielder Gabi will be leaving the team at the end of June.

The 36-year-old skipper leaves Jassim bin Hamad Stadium after two seasons, having led Al Sadd to last year’s league title in addition to the 2020 Qatar Cup and the 2019 Sheikh Jassim Cup.

“Thank you Gabi for the two wonderful years,” said Al Sadd on their Twitter account. “We wish you and your family the very best for the future. You’ll always be a part of the Al Sadd family.”

Sydney: The A-League 2019/20 season is set to resume on July 16 with Melbourne Victory taking on Western United at AAMI Park in Melbourne.

The match between the Victorian rivals will kick-start an unprecedented run of A-League match play, with the remaining 27 games of the regular season to be held over an action-packed 28-day period before the end of season Finals Series.
