Brazil had a commanding first half with plenty of opportunities on goal, but multiple efforts rattled the side netting and coupled with heroic goalkeeping by Mexico's Eduardo Garcia, the first half ended goalless.
Goiania: France forward Nathanael Mbuku scored a hat-trick as the two-time champions sealed a FIFA Under-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 quarter-final spot after defeating Australia 4-0 on Wednesday.
France came into the tie as Group C winners and on the back of an unbeaten run, while Australia had progressed as the second-best third-placed team after finishing behind Nigeria and Ecuador in Group B.
The 2001 champions will face Spain in the last-eight on Monday.

Japan entered the contest with an unbeaten record having beaten the Netherlands 3-0 and drawn 0-0 with the USA, before sealing a 1-0 win over Senegal to finish as Group D winners. Mexico, meanwhile, finished third in Group F and qualified as the best third-placed team.
Mexico will play Korea Republic in the quarter-finals on Sunday.
