Group B: Australia 2-2 Hungary

Goiania: Australia fought back from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw with Hungary in their FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 Group B tie on Tuesday.

Just like in their opening match, the Joeys conceded twice in the first-half at the Estádio Olímpico in Goiânia to trail 2-0 at the break.

But Trevor Morgan’s side roared back in the second-half, deservedly taking something from the match thanks to goals from Noah Botic and Caleb Watts.

Group B: Ecuador 2-1 Australia

Goiania: A strong second-half performance was not enough to rescue Australia as Ecuador claimed a 2-1 win on the opening day of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019.

Two goals in the opening nine minutes cost Australia at the Estádio Olímpico in Goiânia, Brazil, despite a spirited response from Trevor Morgan’s boys in their Group B tie on Saturday.

Group C: Korea Republic 2-1 Haiti

Goiania: Korea Republic nullified an energetic Haiti side to capture a 2-1 victory in Group C play at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 at the Estádio da Serrinha on Sunday. 

The Taeguk Warriors capitalised on a goalkeeping mistake to take the lead in the 26th minute and added another to their tally 15 minutes later by forcing a turnover, earning a lead they would not relinquish to open their campaign in style.

Group D: Japan 3-0 Netherlands

Vitoria: Japan laid out their credentials at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 with a convincing 3-0 win over the Netherlands at the Estádio Kléber Andrade in Vitoria on Sunday. 

Yamato Wakatsuki scored in each half, while Jun Nishikawa added a third from the penalty spot as the Asian champions made a statement of intent at Brazil 2019.

Group E: Tajikistan 1-0 Cameroon

Cariacica: Tajikistan enjoyed an opening day 1-0 win over Cameroon in Group E of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019.

The win places Tajikistan top of Group E after a thrilling Matchday One, which saw Spain and Argentina play to a goalless draw in the day's earlier match.

Tajikistan will be aiming to continue their fine form when they play Spain next.

Kuala Lumpur: The FIFA U-17 World Cup 2019 kicks off in Brazil on Saturday with Asia represented by Japan, Tajikistan, Australia and Korea Republic.

Match officials for FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 appointed

Sao Paulo: With less than three months to go before the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 kicks off, the FIFA Referees Committee has appointed 20 trios of match officials, five Support Referees and 17 Video Assistant Referees (VARs), representing all six Confederations.

Twelve Asian officials have been appointed for the tournament, with the contingent led by referees Khamis Al Marri from Qatar, Australia's Chris Beath and China PR's Ma Ning.
