DPR Korea defeat Japan to win third title

Bogota: Choe Il Son was the match winner as DPR Korea defeated Japan 1-0 to emerge champions of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Colombia 2024 on Sunday.

It was the East Asian side's third title, having also lifted the trophy in 2006 and 2016 while Japan, winners in 2018, settled for the runners-up spot for the second successive edition.

Bukhara: Tajikistan concluded their FIFA Futsal World Cup Uzbekistan 2024 campaign with a 8-3 defeat to Panama in their final Group E tie on Sunday.

Tajikistan still had an outside chance of reaching the knockout stage as one of the best four third-placed finishers but the defeat left them with three defeats in their debut outing in the tournament.

Al Ain FC beat Auckland City to advance

Al Ain: United Arab Emirates’ Al Ain secured a 6-2 win over Auckland City of New Zealand in their FIFA Intercontinental Cup African-Asian-Pacific Cup playoff at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium on Sunday.

The win sees Al Ain book a clash against Egypt’s Al Ahli in the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup in Cairo on October 29 with the victors to advance to the final stage of three matches which will be hosted by Qatar in December.
