Dhaka: Lebanon advanced to the third round of qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup despite going down 2-0 to Bangladesh in the second leg of their second round qualifier on Thursday.
Mithun Chowdhury followed up the rebound of his own shot to beat Lebanon keeper Elias Freije at the near post to give Bangladesh a 52nd minute lead at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, which the home side held until three minutes from the final whistle.
With the clock ticking down Zahid Hasan Emily headed home a corner kick from second-half substitute Abdul Baten Komol to give Bangladesh the victory, which was ultimately in vein as Lebanon's 4-0 first-leg win proved too much for South Asians.
