Taipei: A first-half Benjamin Totori penalty spurred Solomon Islands to a 1-0 win over Chinese Taipei in an international friendly at the Taipei Municipal Stadium on Sunday.
The last time the two sides met was in 1999 in Honiara, in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw.
Chinese Taipei, who boasted an attacking line-up of Li Mao, Chen Hao-wei and Onur Dogan, raced off the blocks at the start of the game.
Solomon Islands suffered a scare in the 15th minute, when against the run of play, Dogan made a defence splitting run to fire a low drive to the back of the net but Chinese Taipei’s celebration was short-lived as the goal was ruled offside.
