Amman: Hassan Abdel-Fattah struck four times as Jordan all but guaranteed their place in the third round of qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as the Hashemite Kingdom hammered Nepal 9-0 in the first leg of their second round match on Saturday.
Abdel-Fattah scored Jordan’s first goal in the tenth minute and ninth goal three minutes into second-half stoppage time having also found the net in the 74th and 84th minutes.
Amer Deeb made it 2-0 for the home side in the 23rd minute and got his second of the game 12 minutes after the interval following a 32nd minute strike Ahmad Hayel, who also bagged a brace with another goal in the 68th minute, and an effort from Abdallah Deeb in first-half-stoppage time.
Defeated coach Graham Roberts, who had a spell in Pakistan before taking charge of Nepal, will look to pick-up his crestfallen side with the men from the Himalayan kingdom facing the proverbial mountain to climb in the return fixture in Kathmandu on July 28.
