Kuwait City: Defender Hussain Fadel earned Kuwait a share of the spoils against Korea Republic in their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Peace at Friendship Stadium on Tuesday.
The Al Qadsia stopper struck in the 53rd minute to level the match after Korea captain Park Chu-young had given the visitors an eighth minute lead with his fourth goal in two matches following the Arsenal striker's hat-trick as the 2011 AFC Asian Cup semi-finalists opened their qualifying round three Group B campaign with an emphatic 6-0 win over Lebanon last Thursday.
The draw sees Korea Republic and Kuwait top the table with four points each, with the East Asians in pole position courtesy of their superior goal difference.
Lebanon are in third with three points after defeating the UAE 3-1 on Tuesday which, combined with the Emiratis 3-2 home loss to Kuwait, saw the Srecko Katanec become the first managerial casualty of the third phase of Asian qualifying for Brazil 2014.
The UAE will have to appoint a new head coach as quickly as possible in order to galvanise a crestfallen side that needs to pick up a positive result away to Korea Republic on October 11 if they are to stand any chance of progressing to the next phase of qualifying.
Lebanon, meanwhile, will be hoping to maintain their winning form at home when they host Kuwait on the same day as the third round of qualifiers reaches the halfway stage.
