Al Ain: The UAE were unable to make the most of their numerical superiority as Srecko Katanec’s side could only add two goals after India had been reduced to nine men, although their 3-0 victory on Saturday still gives them a considerable edge in their 2014 FIFA World Cup second round qualifier.
Dempo defender Debabrata Roy was the first India player sent for an early bath when he received his marching orders in the 19th minute.
Hamdan Al Kamali opened the scoring with a 21st minute penalty three minutes before goalkeeper Subrata Pal became the second player to be dismissed by Qatar referee Banjar Al Dosari.
The UAE doubled their advantage just before the half-hour mark and again it was with a penalty but this time is was Al Kamali’s Al Wahda team-mate Mohamed Al Shehhi that successfully converted the spot-kick.
Despite having two more players than their South Asian opponents, the UAE didn’t add to their tally until eight minutes from full-time when Ismail Al Hammadi made it 3-0 to the Gulf side.
