Yongin: Son Heung-min became Korea Republic’s all-time leading men’s goalscorer as the Taeguk Warriors defeated Uzbekistan 2-0 in an international friendly on Tuesday.

Son opened the scoring in the sixth minute with his 59th international goal before substitute Oh Se-hun sealed the victory at the hour mark.

Dushanbe: Korea Republic made a blistering start to their AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2027™ Qualifiers Group A campaign, cruising to a 16-0 victory over United Arab Emirates on Monday.

Tajikistan fought back to hold Jordan to a 1-1 stalemate in the other group fixture.

Aichi: Korea Republic successfully retained the gold medal in the men’s football tournament at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 on Saturday as Eom Ji-sung’s 61st minute strike earned the defending champions a 1-0 win over Japan at Toyota Stadium.

Eom thumped his left-foot strike into the top corner of the Japanese goal to secure the Koreans a fourth consecutive gold medal at the Games, having won against DPR Korea in 2014 and against the Japanese in 2018 and 2022.

The Japanese had dominated for much of the 90 minutes in front of a crowd of more than 30,000 fans but Eom had the decisive touch with little more than an hour played, the winger crashing the ball home.

Korea Republic came from behind to edge China PR 2-1 while Japan were taken to the distance by Uzbekistan, emerging 9-8 winners in a marathon penalty shoot-out after the score was tied 1-1 after extra-time.

Kuala Lumpur: The concluding day of the Asian Games 2026 Group Stage for women’s football on Monday saw eight sides book their berths in the quarter-finals.

Japan, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Korea Republic, China PR, Uzbekistan, Philippines and Vietnam all advanced to the last eight stage.

DPR Korea will face Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals, Japan play the Philippines, China PR take on Vietnam while Korea Republic will battle it out with Uzbekistan with the matches to be played on Friday and Saturday.
