Changwon: Cerezo Osaka midfielder Kim Bo-kyung was on target as Korea Republic defeated Oman 2-0 as Group A of the third round of AFC Asian Qualifiers for the 2012 Olympics kicked-off on Wednesday.
Kim, who scored in Cerezo's 4-3 win over Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the first-leg of their 2011 AFC Champions League quarter-final clash, sealed the win in the 74th minute after Yoon Bitgaram had given the Koreans a first-half lead.
Yoon, scorer of Korea Republic's extra-time winner against Iran on the quarter-finals of the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, opened the scoring 24 minutes into the match at the Changwon Football Centre, where the 21-year-old midfielder plays his club football with Gyeongnam FC.
Korea Republic will continue their quest to reach the Olympic Games for the seventh successive tournament on November 23 when they face Qatar in the first of their three away games in the Gulf while Oman are at home to Saudi Arabia on the same day.
