Kuwait's Bunjak remains optimistic, Kahrabaa's Salah thrilled with three points

Kuwait City: Kuwait SC head coach Boris Bunjak remained optimistic of his side's AFC Cup™ 2023/24 knockout stage hopes despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Syria's Al Ittihad Al Ahli Aleppo on Tuesday. 

The result meant Iraq's Al Kahrabaa Club assumed the Group B lead on seven points after defeating Jordan's Al Wehdat SC 3-1 in the other tie on Tuesday.
 
Three-time winners Kuwait SC are a point adrift, level with Al Wehdat while Al Ittihad are on two points.

Group B: Kuwait SC (KUW) 1-1 Al Ittihad Al Ahli Aleppo SC (SYR)

Kuwait City: Al Ittihad Al Ahli Aleppo held their hosts Kuwait SC to a 1-1 draw in Matchday Four of Group B in the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 at Kuwait Stadium on Tuesday.

The two teams had also played out a 1-1 draw in Mecca a fortnight ago, with Mohammed Al Nayef opening the scoring for Al Ittihad who picked up their first point of the campaign and Taha Khenissi equalising for Kuwait SC who remained unbeaten.

Group B: Al Kahrabaa Club (IRQ) 3-1 Al Wehdat SC (JOR)

Basra: Iraq’s Al Kahrabaa climbed to the summit of Group B of the AFC Cup™ 2023-24 with a convincing 3-1 win over Jordan’s Al Wehdat on Matchday Four at Basra International Stadium on Tuesday.

The reverse fixture in Amman had ended in an emphatic 3-1 victory for Al Wehdat with Bernard Doumbia bagging a brace to hand the Iraqis their first defeat of the campaign.
 
Tuesday’s victory coupled with the 1-1 draw between Kuwait SC and Al Ittihad Al Ahli Aleppo means Al Kahrabaa now top the group with seven points, one ahead of Al Wehdat with two games to go.

Riyadh: Al Ittihad have parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo, the Saudi Pro League champions said, following a poor run of results under the Portuguese coach.

Nuno was under pressure because of their struggles in the Saudi Pro League, and the club made the decision following a 2-0 defeat to Air Force Club of Iraq in the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 on Monday.
