Group G: Tajikistan 1-1 Saudi Arabia

Dushanbe: Rustam Soirov earned Tajikistan a 1-1 draw with Saudi Arabia in Dushanbe on Tuesday to keep alive the Central Asian nation’s prospects of advancing to the next phase of the 2026 FIFA World Cup preliminaries and the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ Finals.

Soirov pounced 10 minutes from time at a packed Pamir Stadium to cancel out Firas Al Brikan’s 46th minute opener and end Saudi Arabia’s perfect start to their Group G campaign.
 
However, Roberto Mancini’s side still lead the standings with 10 points from their first four matches while Tajikistan move onto five points with both nations due to face Jordan and Pakistan in June.

Dushanbe: Tajikistan will be looking to cause an upset when they host Saudi Arabia in Group G of the Preliminary Joint Qualification – Round 2 for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ on Tuesday.

The Central Asian side are second in the standings with four points, ahead of Jordan on goal difference following their 1-0 defeat to Saudi Arabia on Matchday Three.

Riyadh: Roberto Mancini thanked the fans after Saudi Arabia edged Tajikistan 1-0 in their Preliminary Joint Qualification – Round 2 for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ Group G tie on Thursday.

Salem Al Dawsari's first half strike settled proceedings at the Al Awwal Park as Saudi Arabia made it three wins out of three to move five points clear of Tajikistan and Jordan.

Riyadh: Salem Al Dawsari’s first-half strike was enough to hand Saudi Arabia a 1-0 win over Tajikistan in Group G of the Preliminary Joint Qualification – Round 2 for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ at Al Awwal Park on Thursday.

The two sides lock horns again in Dushanbe next week, with the Saudis maintaining a perfect record at the top of the group, while the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 quarter-finalists are second with four points.

Islamabad: Jordan will be aiming to get their Preliminary Joint Qualification - Round 2 for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ Group G campaign back on track when they play Pakistan in a double header starting on Thursday. 

A 1-1 draw with Tajikistan followed by a 2-0 defeat to Saudi Arabia left Hussein Ammouta’s side in third place after the opening two matches and failure to collect maximum points against Pakistan will have an adverse effect on the West Asian side's hopes of advancing to the next round.

Jeddah: Head coach Jorge Jesus wants his team to go all the way after Al Hilal SFC set a new world record of 28 wins following their 2-0 defeat of Al Ittihad in the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 quarter-finals on Tuesday.

It was Al Hilal's 28th consecutive victory, surpassing the previous recognised record of 27 straight wins set by The New Saints in the 2016-17 season, as the four-time Asian champions confirmed a semi-final against Al Ain FC of the United Arab Emirates.

Jeddah: Al Hilal SFC reached the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 semi-finals after a 2-0 win over Al Ittihad in the second leg of the quarter-finals at King Abdullah Sports City on Tuesday, setting a new world record of 28 consecutive wins in the process.

Runners-up in the previous edition, Al Hilal had also beaten their countrymen 2-0 in the first leg in Riyadh a week earlier and will now face UAE’s Al Ain in the next round for a place in the final.

Riyadh: Luis Castro said he could not fault his players despite Al Nassr exiting the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 following their defeat to Al Ain in the quarter-finals on Monday.

Al Ain edge Al Nassr in thriller to book semis spot

Riyadh: Al Ain booked their place in the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 semi-finals after beating Al Nassr 3-1 on penalties at Al Awwal Park on Monday, after the two teams played out a 4-4 aggregate draw over 90 minutes in Al Ain and 120 minutes in Riyadh.

Having scored the goal which gave the Emirati side a 1-0 advantage in the first leg, Soufiane Rahimi added two more goals in the first half, but Al Nassr bounced back in the second half, before a late Cristiano Ronaldo penalty sent the game into the shootout.
