Members of AFC judicial bodies for 2023 to 2027 term elected
Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Member Associations have today elected the Chairpersons, Deputy Chairpersons and Members of the AFC’s judicial bodies – the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, the AFC Entry Control Body and the AFC Appeal Committee – at the AFC Extraordinary Congress 2023 (full list below).

Kuala Lumpur: The members of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s judicial bodies for the 2023 to 2027 term will be confirmed on Wednesday when the Confederation’s Member Associations (MAs) convene virtually for the AFC Extraordinary Congress 2023.
In accordance with Article 22(e) of the AFC Statutes – Edition 2023, the AFC Congress will elect the Chairpersons, Deputy Chairpersons and Members of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, the AFC Appeal Committee and the AFC Entry Control Body upon the proposal of the AFC Executive Committee.
AFC Executive Committee takes important decisions in first meeting
Manama: The preparations for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ gathered momentum today with the appointment of AFC Executive Committee and FIFA Council member Mariano Araneta, Jr. of the Philippines as the Chairperson of the Organising Committee for AFC Asian Cup by the newly elected AFC Executive Committee in its first meeting chaired by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, in Manama, Bahrain.
The Organising Committee for AFC Asian Cup advises and assists the AFC Executive Committee on matters relating to the AFC Asian Cup™ and is responsible for organising the flagship national team competition of Asia. The remaining members of the Committee will be confirmed in due course.
Meanwhile, members of the Committee also approved the AFC President’s proposal to appoint Mr. Zaw Zaw from Myanmar as the Senior Vice President of the AFC Executive Committee.
Asia-Pacific ties strengthened as the AFC and OFC extend MoU
Manama: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa today joined the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) President Lambert Maltock in signing a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the spirit of partnership and cooperation between the two Confederations.
The signing ceremony, which took place shortly after the 33rd AFC Congress in Manama, Bahrain, will pave the way for greater collaboration to explore possible future competitions between representative teams of the two Confederations in both the men’s and women’s game.
AFC-Concacaf pledge to enhance collaborative opportunities
Manama: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s resolve to strengthen its partnership on the global stage was further consolidated with the signing of a four-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) in Manama, Bahrain, today.
Committed to developing football in both regions, the two Confederations will seek to utilise this opportunity to unlock the massive potential that their respective territories possess, by fostering a legacy of cooperation and determination to uphold social, educational, and cultural qualities that are integrally associated with the beautiful game.
Re-elected AFC President Shaikh Salman lauds Asian unity
Manama: The 33rd Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress held in Manama, Bahrain, on Wednesday, has re-elected Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, who was the sole candidate, as the Confederation’s President by acclamation for a third four-year term until 2027.
Shaikh Salman, who took over as the 10th AFC President in 2013, was re-elected unopposed as the AFC President and FIFA Vice-President in 2015, before being appointed as the FIFA Senior Vice-President in 2018. In 2019, the Bahraini was re-elected once again unopposed to both positions for a four-year term.
Saudi Arabia confirmed as hosts of the AFC Asian Cup 2027™
Manama: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Member Associations have today confirmed the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) as the host association for the AFC Asian Cup 2027™ at the 33rd AFC Congress held in Manama, Bahrain.
The landmark decision marks the first time Asia’s crown jewel will be staged in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, whose national side rank as amongst the best performers in the tournament’s history, having clinched the coveted Continental crown on three occasions – in 1984, 1988 and 1996.
AFC Executive Committee and Asia’s FIFA Council members confirmed
Manama: The 33rd Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress concluded on Wednesday in Manama, Bahrain, with the AFC’s Member Associations electing a new-look AFC Executive Committee for the term 2023 to 2027.
The AFC’s six representatives who will serve on the FIFA Council for the next four years were also confirmed. Together with the AFC President, Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, who is also the FIFA Senior Vice President, the AFC will have seven members on the FIFA Council.
Meanwhile, new elections for the positions, which remained vacant after this Congress, will be held at a later date.
33rd AFC Congress 2023 takes centrestage in Bahrain
Manama: All eyes will be on Manama, Bahrain, for the 33rd Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress tomorrow where the AFC Executive Committee for the term 2023 to 2027 as well as the Continent’s representatives to the FIFA Council will be confirmed.
Set against the backdrop of the immaculate Gulf Convention Centre in Manama, the Congress will see incumbent President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa run unopposed for the AFC Presidency.
