Kuala Lumpur: Accolade recipients at the AFC Awards Riyadh 2025 presented by NEOM can look forward to taking home sparkling new trophies, with the introduction of revamped designs for the most prestigious night on the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s annual calendar.

To be hosted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the first time, the 29th edition of the glittering gala on Thursday (October 16) will feature a dazzling update of the prizes that will be presented to each of the winners across 20 award categories.

AFC Awards Riyadh 2025 presented by NEOM: Asia’s best eye ultimate honour

Kuala Lumpur: Six of the Continent’s finest players will hope to walk away with the most prestigious accolade of the night on Thursday (October 16) at the highly-anticipated AFC Awards Riyadh 2025 presented by NEOM.

The trio of Arif Aiman Hanapi, Akram Afif and Salem Al Dawsari are vying for the AFC Player of the Year, while Holly McNamara, Wang Shuang and Hana Takahashi will hope to claim the AFC Women’s Player of the Year prize.

 

Having starred on a consistent basis for both club and country between June 2024 and July 2025, each of the contenders have showcased the top-class abilities of Asian players to the world to earn their nominations for the ultimate honour at the 29th edition of the AFC Awards.

Afif and Seike feted as Asia’s best at dazzling AFC Annual Awards

Seoul: Qatar icon Akram Afif and Japan star Kiko Seike were crowned the AFC Player of the Year in the men’s and women’s categories respectively on a starry Tuesday night at the AFC Annual Awards Seoul 2023 in Korea Republic.

The duo took home the biggest prizes at the 28th edition of the ceremony, held at the magnificent Grand Peace Palace of the Kyung Hee University, which also saw 19 other awards handed out as the best of Asia were honoured.
