Japan’s Koizumi to lead referees’ team at historic #AWCL Final

Wuhan: As the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League™ 2024/25 approaches its final match, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed the officials for the historic tie between Melbourne FC and Wuhan Jiangda Women’s FC on Saturday.

The Final, which will decide the first-ever champions of Asia’s premier women’s club competition, will be overseen by Asaka Koizumi of Japan, who was earlier part of the roster for Melbourne FC’s Semi-final tie against Hyundai Steel Red Angels Women’s FC and the latter’s Quarter-final clash against Bam Khatoon FC.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s unwavering commitment to developing match officials of the highest standards was once again underlined with the successful conclusion of the AFC Referee Academy’s onsite modules for Batches 5 and 6 in May 2025.

Marking a new chapter for the AFC Referee Academy, Batch 6 featured first-time participants from four Member Associations (MAs), namely, Brunei Darussalam, Macau, Philippines, and Timor-Leste, further demonstrating the AFC’s steadfast pursuit of excellence and determination to nurture refereeing talent across the length and breadth of Asia.

The Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh will provide the setting for the showdown between Cambodia's Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng and FC Arkadag of Turkmenistan on Saturday, and will feature an all-Korea Republic line-up.

Jeddah: Qatar’s Abdulrahman Al-Jassim will take charge of the AFC Champions League Elite™ (ACL Elite) 2024/25 Final on Saturday evening at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium between Al Ahli Saudi FC and Kawasaki Frontale.

It is the second time that Al-Jassim has been appointed as the main referee for the Final of Asia’s elite men’s club competition, following the AFC Champions League™ 2020 finale between Persepolis FC and Ulsan HD FC.

Victoria: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will be represented by four match officials at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Seychelles 2025, set to take place from May 1 to 11, further underscoring the Confederation’s unwavering efforts to develop world-class referees.

The Asian contingent will feature Yuchi Hatano of Japan, Ibrahim Al Raeesi of the United Arab Emirates, Fallah Al Balushi of Oman, and Uzbekistan’s Nayim Kosimov — all of whom officiated at the recently concluded AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup™ in Thailand this March.

15 AFC match officials appointed for FIFA Club World Cup 2025

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will be represented by 15 world-class match officials at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 between June 14 and July 13.

The Asian refereeing cast, drawn from five Member Associations, was confirmed today as part of a 117-strong contingent that will officiate at the inaugural edition of the tournament in the United States.
