Sydney: Football Australia is back in the grassroots game in 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic forced many programmes and competitions to abruptly pause and eventually be cancelled throughout 2020 and in some parts of the country, continuing in 2021.
In 2019, Football Australia witnessed continued growth in grassroots participation with over 543,000 players registering for outdoor organised football and over 63,000 playing futsal. Overall total participation reached a record two million participants.
AFC Grassroots Football Day 2022 set for fun-filled celebrations
Kuala Lumpur: A total of 41 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Member Associations (MAs) have pledged to join the AFC Grassroots Football Day 2022 to bring smiles and cheers through the unifying force of football.
Over 31,000 participants of all ages, backgrounds and abilities from across Asia are expected to join the annual football festival, ranging from small-sided games, virtual conferences and webinars organised by the AFC MAs.
Grassroots advocates share best practices in special online session
Kuala Lumpur: Grassroots practitioners in Asia joined the latest AFC Grassroots Special Online Session 2022 titled ‘The Priorities’ which was an avenue for Member Associations (MAs) to share and discuss best practices.
Attended by over 110 participants from 44 MAs, the session opened by sharing the objectives and mission of grassroots football in Asia.
FA Thailand’s Grassroots Week enriches children, coaches and community
Bangkok: The Football Association of Thailand (FA Thailand) organised their Grassroots Week in February 2022 with more than 100 children and 30 coaches benefitting from activities that promoted and enhanced the skills and values integral to the development of the beautiful game.
A session to educate coaches on grassroots development and provide children aged 6-12 with fundamental training drills was held at the National Sports University Chiang Mai campus from February 17-20.
