ASEAN Wrap: JDT Malaysian champs yet again

Kuala Lumpur: Johor Darul Ta'zim defeated Brunei DPMM 3-0 to confirm a 12th consecutive Malaysia Super League title with five matches to spare.

Indonesia’s title race remained tense as Persib Bandung were held by Borneo in a clash between the top two while Thailand’s Buriram United continued their dominant march at the summit with a convincing win. Cong An Ha Noi FC strengthened their position at the top in Vietnam with another important three points.

Nielsen expects Japan to get even better

Perth: Japan may have sizzled but head coach Nils Nielsen believes there is still room for improvement after Japan stayed perfect in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026™ with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Vietnam in Group C on Tuesday.

Riko Ueki opened Japan’s account at the Perth Rectangular Stadium in the first half, with further goals from Maika Hamano, Aoba Fujino and Koko Seike completing the impressive victory as Japan concluded the group stage with 17 scored and none conceded.

Perth: Japan cruised to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ Group C top spot with an impressive 4-0 win against Vietnam at the Perth Rectangular Stadium on Tuesday.

The two-time winners finished with nine points and will meet the Philippines next while defeat meant Vietnam missed out on a place in the quarter-finals.

Chinese Taipei win delights Prasobchoke; Mai rues Vietnam off day

Perth: Head coach Prasobchoke Chokemor couldn’t hide his joy after Chinese Taipei overcame Vietnam 1-0 in their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia™ 2026 Group C tie at the Perth Rectangular Stadium on Saturday.

Su Yu-Hsuan’s first half header put Chinese Taipei in the driver’s seat and despite Vietnam attempting to fight back in the second half and losing their goalscorer and Pan Yen-Hsin to injury, the East Asian side held on for the three points.

Having opted for a five-strong defence in the 2-0 defeat to Japan on Matchday One, Prasobchoke went for a more attacking line-up with Su leading the line and the tactical change paid off.

Group C: Chinese Taipei 1-0 Vietnam

Perth: Chinese Taipei revived their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ hopes with a 1-0 victory over Vietnam in their Group C tie on Saturday.

Su Yu-Hsuan scored with a close-range header in the 26th minute to get the East Asian side back on track after their opening day defeat to Japan while defeat was a blow to Vietnam’s hopes after having opened their campaign with victory against India.
