Hisor: Head coach Goran Stevanovic hailed Tajikistan’s collective spirit after his side sealed qualification for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™, stressing that unity and belief proved decisive in a hard-fought campaign.

A tense 1-1 draw against the Philippines in their final Group A qualifying tie at the Hisor Central Stadium on Tuesday sent Tajikistan through, with Sheriddin Boboev’s first-half equaliser securing the crucial point. 

The result saw both teams finishing on 14 points, with Tajikistan advancing with a superior goal difference.

Hisor: Sheriddin Boboev’s first half strike secured Tajikistan a vital 1-1 draw with the Philippines as the Central Asian side booked their spot at the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ with a top-place finish in Group A of the Final Round of the Qualifiers on Tuesday.

Both sides finished level on 14 points, with Tajikistan advancing due to a superior goal difference as the Philippines suffered the heartbreak of missing out.

Kuala Lumpur: The teams vying for the title learnt their Group Stage challengers following the AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ Official Draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

Jakarta: Tajikistan’s dreams of reaching the knockout stage were shattered after they were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Australia in their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ Group C match on Sunday.

The draw meant that Tajikistan finished on two points, two adrift of Central Asian rivals Uzbekistan, who were beaten 2-1 by Japan in the other tie.

Jakarta: Uzbekistan will need to go full throttle against Japan in their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ Group C clash if they are to confirm their place in the knockout stage.

While Japan qualified with a match to spare after beating Tajikistan 3-0, Nodir Elibaev’s men - who are on four points after defeating Australia 4-2, cannot afford to lose on Sunday.

Waiting in the wings are their Central Asian neighbours Tajikistan, who have a chance of taking the remaining spot if they beat Australia and Uzbekistan fall to the four-time champions.

Jakarta: Japan booked their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ quarter-final ticket with a match to spare after defeating a fighting Tajikistan 3-0 in their Group C tie on Friday.

The win took the four-time champions with six points ahead of a mouth-watering clash with Uzbekistan, who are two adrift, on Sunday.

Bekmurodov credits heroics to Tajikistan defence

Jakarta: Tajikistan’s Firuz Bekmurodov’s exceptional display against Uzbekistan secured his side a point in their opening  AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ tie but the keeper said all credit should go towards their defence. 

The 28-year-old pulled off numerous saves in their Group C tie to keep the high-pressing four-time finalists at bay and sent their attacking lineup of Muzaffar Akhadjonov, Anakshon Rakhmatov and Elbek Tulkinov home empty handed.
