#ChallengeLeague - Preview: MD3

Kuala Lumpur: The cast for the knockout stage of the AFC Challenge League™ 2024/25 will be finalised on Friday and Saturday.

Four of the quarter-final spots have been filled, with Oman's Al Seeb Club assured of a top spot finish in the West Zone's Group C.

In the East Zone, Myanmar's Shan United FC and Tainan City FC have confirmed their spots from Group D while Preah Khan Reach Syay Rieng FC booked their quarter-final berth from Group E.

Yangon: Chinese Taipei’s Tainan City FC defeated Young Elephants FC of Laos 3-2 in a thrilling AFC Challenge League™ 2024/25 Group D tie on Wednesday.

The topsy-turvy match saw the lead changing hands three times before Tainan eventually secured the win that meant both them and Myanmar’s Shan United are already through to the knockout stage ahead of their meeting on Friday to determine the group winners.

Ulaanbaatar: Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC of Cambodia booked their spot in the knockout stage of the AFC Challenge League™ 2024/25 after defeating Mongolia’s SP Falcons 2-1 in their Group E tie at the MFF Stadium on Wednesday.

Svay Rieng face Indonesia’s Madura United on Saturday but are assured of a top two finish with SP Falcons - on one point - having already completed their fixtures. 

The Mongolian side’s fate now depends on Svay Rieng defeating Madura.

Kuwait City: Two early goals steered Kuwait’s Al Arabi SC to a 2-0 win over Maziya Sports & RC in their AFC Challenge League™ Group B tie on Tuesday.

Having lost 1-0 to Kyrgyz Republic’s FC Abdysh-Ata in their opener, the win revives Al Arabi’s hopes with Turkmenistan’s FC Arkadag up next for them on Friday.

Pathum Thani: Singapore’s Lion City Sailors FC stayed unbeaten after securing a 3-1 win over Port FC of Thailand in their rescheduled  AFC Champions League Two™ 2024/25 Group F match on Wednesday.

The win took Sailors up to seven points, which saw them leapfrogging their beaten opponents as Group F finally reached the halfway stage after adverse weather conditions had forced the postponement of this match.
