Sharma applauds Paro’s fighting spirit

Kathmandu: Paro FC head coach Puspalal Sharma praised his team’s determination after they fought back from a goal down to defeat Nepal’s Church Boys United 2-1 on Tuesday, securing their place in the AFC Challenge League™ 2024/25 group stage.

Paro fell behind to Laken Limbu’s 38th-minute strike but the Bhutanese side quickly recovered with Kinga Wangchuk equalising just a minute later before the game was decided in the 66th minute when William Opoku capitalised on a defensive lapse to score the winner.

Kuala Lumpur: The lineup for the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 has been finalised following the completion of the Preliminary Stage on Tuesday.

Shandong Taishan of China PR and Qatar's Al Gharafa were the last two teams to advance after registering hard-fought wins against Thailand's Bangkok United FC and Shabab Al Ahli of the United Arab Emirates respectively.

Al Khor: Ferjani Sassi’s second half strike sealed Qatar’s Al Gharafa a 1-0 win over Shabab Al Ahli of the United Arab Emirates in their AFC Champions League Elite™ Preliminary Stage 2 fixture at the Al Bayt Stadium on Tuesday.

The victory secured Al Gharafa a place in the AFC Champions League Elite 2024/25 group stage while Shabab Al Ahli will compete in the AFC Champions League Two™ 2024/25 with the draw for both competitions to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Friday.

Jalal-Abad: FC Abdysh-Ata Kant of Kyrgyz Republic produced a dominant performance to beat Afghanistan’s Attack FC 2-0 in their AFC Challenge League™ 2024/25 Preliminary Stage 1 match on Tuesday.

The win secured Islam Akhmedov's side a place in the group stage, with the draw to be conducted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 22.

PS2: Shandong Taishan win shootout to advance

Jinan: Shandong Taishan booked their spot in the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 group stage after edging Bangkok United 4-3 on penalties in their Preliminary Stage 2 tie on Tuesday.

The two sides battled to a 1-1 draw at the end of 120 minutes with Shandong proving deadlier from the penalty spot as they confirmed their place in the top tier of Asian club football. 

Defeat means Bangkok United will compete in the AFC Champions League Two™ with the draw for both competitions to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Friday.

PS1: Paro FC fight back to book group stage spot

Kathmandu: Bhutan’s Paro FC came back from a goal down to seal a 2-1 win over Church Boys United of Nepal in the AFC Challenge League™ Preliminary Stage 1 tie on Tuesday.

Paro’s Kinga Wangchuk cancelled Laken Limbu’s opener before William Opoku struck the winner in the 66th minute to send the Bhutanese side through to the group stage.

TECNO becomes Official Global Supporter of AFC Club Competitions

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC and international technology brand TECNO have announced a global partnership that will see TECNO become an Official Global Supporter of the AFC’s newly revamped and highly anticipated club competitions, the AFC Champions League Elite™, the AFC Women’s Champions League™, and the AFC Champions League Two™ for the 2024-2025 season.

The partnership was inaugurated on August 13 at a ceremony held at the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, which saw representatives of the AFC and TECNO come together to share their ambitions and strategic goals for the monumental collaboration. The event was held ahead of the anticipated official League Stage and Group Stage draw ceremonies of the AFC Champions League Elite™ and AFC Champions League Two™ scheduled for August 16, 2024.
