Guangzhou and Suzhou to host opening Chinese Super League groups
Hong Kong: Guangzhou and Suzhou will host the opening rounds of the 2021 Chinese Super League in bio-secure bubbles when the league kicks on April 20, the Chinese Football Association has announced.
Guangzhou will host Group A containing eight-time champions Guangzhou FC as well as Guangzhou City and Shenzhen FC alongside Chinese FA Cup holders Shandong Taishan, Chongqing Athletic, Henan Longmen, Qingdao FC and Cangzhou Lions.
Hong Kong: Chinese Super League side Shanghai Port FC will go into their 2021 AFC Champions League campaign without new signing Ante Majstrorovic after the Croatian suffered a cruciate ligament injury in training on Thursday.
The 27-year-old ruptured the ligament in his left knee and is expected to miss most of the upcoming season, with the Chinese Super League expected to begin later this month.
