Group C: Al Ahli Saudi defeat Al Shorta to revive AFC Champions League hopes

Jeddah:  Al Ahli Saudi FC got their first win of the 2021 AFC Champions League, defeating Iraq’s Al Shorta 3-0 on Matchday Three of Group C at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium on Wednesday.

Both sides had been winless in their first two games, with Al Ahli a point ahead of their opponents thanks to Omar Al Soma’s last-minute equaliser against Qatar's Al Duhail SC in the previous game.

Jeddah: A scintillating display of attacking talent at King Abdullah Sport City Stadium saw seven goals scored as Qatar’s Al Duhail SC emerged 4-3 winners over Islamic Republic of Iran’s Esteghlal FC on Matchday Three of the 2021 AFC Champions League Group C on Wednesday.

Both sides went into the Matchday Three encounter hopeful of extending an unbeaten record, with Al Duhail having collected four points from their opening two games and Esteghlal having earned the full six points.

The result takes Al Hilal to seven points from three matches, with Istiklol - who suffered their first defeat in the competition - joined by AGMK on four at the half-way point of the group stage.

Riyadh: Two late strikes saw AGMK come back from a goal down to beat Shabab Al Ahli Dubai 2-1 to revive their hopes in Group A of the 2021 AFC Champions League on Wednesday.

Jovan Dokic drew AGMK level in the 88th minute after Ahmed Alhashmi had given Shabab Al Ahli a first half lead and Akramjov Kamilov completed a dream comeback with the winner in added time.

It was a magnificent performance from the Uzbekistan club as they sealed their first ever win in the group stage of the AFC Champions League, with victory taking them to four points.

Riyadh: Al Sadd SC didn't play a perfect game but head coach Xavi Hernandez said claiming three points was the most important thing in their 3-1 win against Jordan’s Al Wehdat in Group D of the 2021 AFC Champions League on Tuesday.

Al Sadd scored three goals in the first 26 minutes of the match through Baghdad Bounedjah, ‎Boualem Khoukhi and ‎Hassan Al Haydos to move to four points, one behind joint-group leaders Al Nassr and Foolad Khouzestan.
