Group D: Al Duhail edge Sepahan for first win

Buraidah: Al Duhail SC got their first win in Group D of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 thanks to Michael Olunga’s late effort in a game that finished 1-0 against Sepahan SC at the King Abdullah Sports City on Sunday. 

Al Duhail needed the win following their defeat against group hosts Al Taawoun on the opening matchday, and they duly delivered despite missing a host of chances in the first half, not managing any shots on target though they clicked into gear in the second.

Riyadh: Sharjah FC will head into the unknown when they face Tajikistan’s FC Istiklol in Group A of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium on Monday.

Riyadh: Qatar’s Al Rayyan and Al Hilal SFC of Saudi Arabia are braced for a thriller when they meet in Group A of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium on Monday. 

Both teams picked up three points on Matchday One and a win on Monday will be a positive step in their hopes of gaining an early advantage.

This will be the seventh meeting between the clubs with Al Hilal winning four of those games to Al Rayyan’s one victory which came in 2018.

Al Rayyan fell behind early in their Matchday One fixture against Istiklol after Shakhrom Suleymanov’s sixth minute strike, but fought back through goals from Yacine Brahimi and Yohan Boli, only for Muhammad Isaev to draw the Tajikistan side level. Al Rayyan, however, claimed the win thanks to Boli’s 71st minute effort.

Al Wehdat had come from behind against debutants Al Faisaly to collect their first point after Ahmed Samir’s second-half goal cancelled out Hicham Faik’s early free-kick. Meanwhile, Nasaf gave up their lead to draw 1-1 against nine-man Al Sadd in the earlier Friday game.
