Doha: Head coach Bruno Pinheiro wants Al Sadd SC to make a concerted effort to advance to the Round of 16 after their impressive AFC Champions League™ 2023-24 Group B win against Al Faisaly on Monday.

The Qatar side finally found their best form to defeat Jordan's Al Faisaly 6-0 with Baghdad Bounedjah starring with a hat-trick for their first win of the campaign.

Group B: Al Sadd SC (QAT) 6-0 Al Faisaly (JOR)

Doha: Al Sadd SC pulled themselves back into contention for a place in the knockout rounds of the AFC Champions League™ 2023-24 on Monday as the Qatari side handed 10-man Al Faisaly from Jordan a 6-0 defeat in Group B.

Baghdad Bounedjah scored a hat-trick while Gonzalo Plato, Mostafa Meshaal and Yusuf Abdurisag were also on target as the hosts punished Al Faisaly following the sending off late in the first half of Nizar Al Rashdan, with three goals in two second-half minutes sealing the result.
 
The win was Al Sadd’s first in three games in the competition so far this season and moves Bruno Pinheiro’s side onto four points – three points behind leaders Sharjah FC - as the group phase reaches the halfway stage while Al Faisaly remain rooted to the bottom of the standings without a point.

Sharjah: United Arab Emirates' Sharjah FC moved above FC Nasaf of Uzbekistan into pole position in Group B of the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 on Monday as Cosmin Olaroiu’s side handed the Uzbek club a 1-0 defeat at Sharjah Stadium through Caio Lucas’s first half goal with Adel Al Hosani making a late penalty save.

The Brazilian winger struck five minutes into first half injury time before Al Hosani kept out Azizbek Amonov’s spot-kick to earn his side the three points and move the club from the United Arab Emirates onto seven points as the group phase reaches the halfway stage.

Jeddah: Al Ittihad narrowly beat Air Force Club after they held each other for much of the game, but the Saudis managed to claim a 1-0 win at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium on Monday in Group C of the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24.

Chances came aplenty for the Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, but a combination of wastefulness and good defending from Ayoub Odisho’s players meant the deadlock remained unbroken for 94 minutes, with Abderrazak Hamdallah finally giving the Jeddah-based side the win late on.

Kuwait City: Bahrain’s Al Riffa burst into life in the second half to beat 10-man Al Arabi SC of Kuwait 3-0 in the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 on Monday.

The win opened a three-point gap for Al Riffa at the top of Group C and the Bahrain outfit moved closer to a second successive West Zonal semi-final appearance.
