JDT’s Arif vows to push on after sensational start

Johor Bahru: Arif Aiman made it three goals in two AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 matches after his opening effort sent Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) on their way to a 3-0 success against Shanghai Shenhua on Tuesday.

The Malaysian international once again set the stage alight, building on his brace against Shanghai Port in the opening game but the 22-year-old is determined to ensure this isn’t a temporary peak for him.

Gosford: Buriram United head coach Osmar Vieira was beaming with pride after his side secured a 2-1 victory over Central Coast Mariners in their AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024-25 tie on Tuesday.

Guilherme Bissoli and Curtis Good delivered for the Thai League 1 outfit, while Central Coast Mariners suffered more agony with goalkeeper Adam Pavlesic sent off before the Australian side scored a late consolation.

Johor Bahru: Arif Aiman, Jorge Obregon and Juan Muniz were all on target as Johor Darul Ta’zim notched up a comprehensive 3-0 win over Shanghai Shenhua at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Tuesday to remain unbeaten in the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 after two rounds.

Arif put his side ahead in the 11th minute before Obregon doubled the advantage 15 minutes later as JDT followed their 2-2 draw with Shanghai Port with victory in front of their own fans. Muniz added the third with a delightful 80th minute free kick.

The result moves JDT onto four points from the first two games while Shenhua remain on three points having defeated Pohang Steelers 4-1 in China PR in their opening game last month.

The topsy-turvy match saw Al Gharafa taking a 2-0 lead before being pegged back by AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 winners Al Ain but recovered to score twice as Pedro Martins’ side went on to secure the first win of their campaign.
