Mixed feelings for Cong An Ha Noi’s Polking, Sterjovski; Amarelle expect improvements

Hanoi: Head coach Mano Polking admitted his frustration after Cong An Ha No FC were held 1-1 by Australia’s Macarthur FC in their AFC Champions League Two™ 2025/26 Group E clash on Thursday.

Polking’s men had the better of the first half and created several clear chances but were made to pay, conceding from a set-piece late in the game despite having worked in training to prevent a similar outcome.

Singapore: Head coach Noh Rahman did not hide his satisfaction after Tampines Rovers showed their mettle in a 1-0 win over FC Pohang Steelers in their AFC Champions League Two™ 2025/26 tie Group H tie on Thursday.

The Singapore side scored with their first attack through Hide Higashikawa and then had to show a very different style of game for the rest of the match as Pohang dominated possession and produced 20 attempts at Syazwan Buhari’s goal.

The defence marshalled by Dylan Fox let nothing through and even though Korea Republic’s Pohang had eight shots on target, all proved to be either easy saves for Syazwan or standard clearances from the defence.

Goa: Jorge Jesus took plenty of positives from Al Nassr Club’s 2-1 win against FC Goa in their AFC Champions League Two™ 2025/26 tie on Wednesday which kept the Saudi Arabia side top of Group D.

Hudson appointed Thailand head coach

Bangkok: Anthony Hudson has been announced as the new head coach for Thailand, taking over from Masatada Ishii.

The 44-year-old was previously the Football Association of Thailand’s technical director.

Hudson, who was a West Ham United player in the late 90s, has an extensive coaching background with national teams and clubs including Bahrain, New Zealand, United States, Al Arabic SC and BG Pathum United.
