Group H: PSM Makassar (IDN) 0-5 Sabah FC (MAS)

Bali: Sabah FC of Malaysia continued their winning start in Group H of the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 on Thursday, sweeping Indonesia’s PSM Makassar aside 5-0.

Darren Lok and Gabriel Peres opened the scoring for Sabah in the first half at Captain 1 Wayan Dipta Stadium, before further strikes from Lok, Stuart Wilkin and Farhan Roslan in the second period wrapped up a comprehensive three points.
 
The victory was Sabah’s second in this year’s competition after they beat Singaporean outfit Hougang United FC 3-1 on Matchday One, while Makassar remain without a point at the foot of the table having also tasted defeat 3-0 in their opener away to Hai Phong FC in Vietnam.

Group H: Hougang United (SGP) 2-1 Hai Phong FC (VIE)

Singapore: Hougang United of Singapore fought back to defeat Vietnam’s Hai Phong FC 2-1 in Group H of the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Wednesday.

Dorde Maksimovic scored both goals, with the winner coming in the third minute of added time as Hougang revived their knockout stage hopes after having fallen 3-1 to Malaysia’s Sabah FC on Matchday One.
 
The defeat was a blow for Hai Phong, having opened their campaign with a 3-0 win over PSM Makassar.

Leumeah: Australia’s Macarthur FC put on a scintillating display to beat Dynamic Herb Cebu of Philippines 8-2 in their AFC Cup™ 2023/2024 Group F clash on Thursday.

The win maintained Macarthur’s bright start to their campaign, having already beaten Myanmar’s Shan United 3-0 in their opening game to lead the group on maximum points.

Phnom Penh: Cambodia’s Phnom Penh Crown FC registered their second straight victory in Group F of the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 after they defeated Shan United FC of Myanmar 4-0 at National Olympic Stadium on Thursday.

Shintaro Shimizu bagged a hat-trick while substitute Lim Pisoth added the other goal for the Cambodian champions who maintained their perfect start to their AFC Cup campaign having won their first outing against the Philippines’ Dynamic Herb Cebu FC 3-0 a fortnight ago.

Ulaanbaatar: Chinese Taipei’s Taichung Futuro took a firm grip on Group I of the AFC Cup™ 2023/24 after a 2-0 win over FC Ulaanbaatar of Mongolia at the MFF Stadium on Thursday.

The victory took Taichung to a perfect six points, three clear of Ulaanbaatar. Chinese Taipei’s Tainan City FC and Must CPK of Macau - who both lost their opening games - complete the group but their face-off on Thursday has been postponed.

Saitama: Jose Kante was delighted with Urawa Red Diamonds’ performance in their 6-0 win over Vietnam’s Hanoi FC in their AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 Group J match on Wednesday. 

Pham Tuan Hai’s own goal put Maciej Skorza’s side ahead before efforts from Alexander Scholz, Toshiki Takahashi, Takahiro Sekine, Kante and Ekanit Panya moved Urawa onto four points following their opening draw with Wuhan Three Towns.

The defending champions impressed throughout the 90 minutes, producing 25 shots on goal with 12 on target, showing tremendous desire to not ease up at any point in the game.

Doha: With 100 days to go to Asia’s most prestigious men’s tournament, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ Local Organising Committee (LOC) today unveiled the official slogan of the competition: Hayya Asia.

Presenting fervent fans of Asian football with the opportunity to have their voices heard, Hayya Asia was confirmed as the official slogan of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ from a shortlist of 11, following a global online engagement campaign launched on 12 September to mark  the tournament’s four-month countdown.
