Kuala Lumpur: The 2019 AFC Cup final sees Lebanon’s Al Ahed travel to Pyongyang to face DPR Korea’s 4.25 SC in three weeks’ time with a new name and country guaranteed to be etched on to the trophy.
The finale will bring a close to the 16th edition of a competition that in recent times has been dominated by three-time champions Air Force Club of Iraq.

Beirut: Al Ahed head coach Bassem Marmar said his side’s dream is now to win the 2019 AFC Cup after seeing off Jordan’s Al Jazeera in the West Asia Zonal Final on Tuesday.
Al Ahed are in AFC Cup final for the first time and the 42-year-old Marmar said that his side will put their full focus on lifting the Continental trophy.
Ahmed Akaichi's 32nd minute goal on Tuesday proved to be the difference over 180 minutes as Al Ahed advanced to the AFC Cup final 1-0 on aggregate.

Beirut: Al Ahed reached the 2019 AFC Cup Final after a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Al Jazeera in the second leg of the West Zonal Final at Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium on Tuesday.
Al Ahed, who had kept six clean sheets in the 2019 AFC Cup - more than any other team in the competition - controlled the early stages of the game as they maintained position, but failed to create real threats on Al Jazeera's goal.
The Jordanian side came close to scoring in the 21st minute, when Mahmoud Al Mardi sent a cross from a corner kick towards Yazan Al Arab, however, the defender's powerful header was saved by Al Ahed goalkeeper Mehdi Khalil.

Beirut: Al Jazeera coach Chiheb Ellili said that his side gave their best in order to avoid defeat against Lebanon’s Al Ahed in the second leg of the West Asia Zonal Final of this year’s AFC Cup on Tuesday.
After sharing a goalless draw in the first leg at home last week, Al Jazeera lost in Beirut as Tunisian striker Ahmed Akaichi scored the only goal for Al Ahed at the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium.

Pyongyang: 4.25 SC's winning run at home may have ended but head coach O Yun-son was nonetheless satisfied after the DPR Korea club progressed to the 2019 AFC Cup final on Wednesday.
4.25 sealed a place in their inaugural AFC Cup final after playing to a 0-0 draw with Vietnam's Hanoi FC, advancing on away goals after the first leg had ended 2-2.

Pyongyang: Head coach Chu Dinh Nghiem said the journey continues for Hanoi FC following their 2019 AFC Cup defeat to 4.25 SC on Wednesday.
Hanoi were left frustrated throughout the contest at the Kim Il-sung Stadium as the 2019 V.League 1 champions struggled to break the deadlock as the game ended goalless in 4.25’s favour, with the Korean side advancing on the away goals following a 2-2 draw in the first leg.
