Orlando: Al Hilal SFC's FIFA Club World Cup 2025 campaign may have come to an end but head coach Simone Inzaghi is optimistic of what the future holds.

The Saudi Pro League side's challenge was ended by a 2-1 defeat to Brazil's Fluminense on Friday but Inzaghi, who took charge of the side just weeks before the tournament began, has been left impressed.

Orlando: Substitute Hercules struck a 70th-minute winner as Brazil's Fluminense defeated Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal SFC 2-1 on Friday to reach the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

A fine left-foot finish from Matheus Martinelli had put the Rio club ahead in the 40th minute but Al Hilal's Brazilian forward Marcos Leonardo levelled six minutes into the second half before Hercules stole the show to the delight of the vast majority of the 43,091 crowd.

Late Mbappe strike settles thriller

Rutherford: Young striker Gonzalo Garcia scored his fourth goal of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 and Kylian Mbappe his first as Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 3-2 on Saturday to set up a mouthwatering semi-final against European champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Garcia, 21, put Madrid ahead from close range early on a hot afternoon at the MetLife Stadium just outside New York City, and Fran Garcia then doubled their lead before the midway point in the first half.

Dortmund never seriously threatened a comeback before a remarkable late flurry of activity, with Maximilian Beier pulling one back in the 93rd minute and Mbappe getting Madrid's third with a stunning overhead kick.

Serhou Guirassy then completed the scoring with a penalty after Real's Dean Huijsen was sent off, before the full-time whistle finally blew.

Atlanta: Paris Saint-Germain reached the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 semi-finals as Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele goals earned the nine-man European champions a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich in a gripping battle on Saturday.

The French treble winners had Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez sent off in the final stages but managed to oust the German giants in Atlanta.

 

Bundesliga champions Bayern, who lost Jamal Musiala just before half-time with a horror ankle injury, shared an intense and even battle with the Parisians.

 

Bayern had won their last four matches straight against PSG, including a 1-0 UEFA Champions League victory last November, before Luis Enrique's side hit their peak.

Philadelphia: A late own-goal by goalkeeper Weverton took Chelsea through to the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 semi-finals on Friday as the Premier League side edged Palmeiras of Brazil 2-1 in a last-eight tie that had been lit up by a moment of magic from young star Estevao Willian.

The teenage Brazil forward, who will join Chelsea after the tournament, was eager to impress his future employers and his brilliant 53rd-minute finish cancelled out Cole Palmer's opener in Philadelphia.

But a deflected Malo Gusto cross went in off Palmeiras goalkeeper Weverton in the 83rd minute to give Chelsea the victory and set up a semi-final showdown with another Brazilian side in Fluminense.

Kuala Lumpur: Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, India, the Philippines, Uzbekistan and Vietnam confirmed their spots at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ on Saturday.

India topped Group B with a 2-1 win against Thailand, Chinese Taipei beat Indonesia 2-1 to finish with a perfect record in Group D while Vietnam defeated Guam 4-0 to advance from Group E.
