Al Sadd's Nam satisfied despite defeat

Doha: Midfielder Nam Tae-hee was satisfied with the performance of Al Sadd SC despite the 3-2 defeat to Monterrey in the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday.

The 28-year-old Korean international saw Al Sadd concede twice in the first half before eventually losing 3-2 to Mexico's Monterrey to miss out on a semi-final with UEFA Champions League winners Liverpool.

Lucescu: Al Hilal deserved to win

Doha: Head coach Razvan Lucescu said Al Hilal SFC deserved their 1-0 win against Esperance de Tunis in the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday.

Al Hilal owed their win to French forward Bafetimbi Gomis, who came off the bench to score the only goal in the 73rd minute to steer the 2019 AFC Champions League winners into the semi-finals.

Doha: Head coach Xavi was left to rue Al Sadd's mistakes which led to their 3-2 defeat against Mexico’s Monterrey in the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday.

Monterrey scored two of their three goals after mistakes by Al Sadd players as the CONCACAF Champions League winners advanced to a semi-final meeting with English side Liverpool on Wednesday.

Al Sadd will face Esperance Sportive Tunis in the play-off for fifth place on Tuesday.

Doha: A second half goal from Bafetimbi Gomis steered Al Hilal SFC to a 1-0 win against Esperance de Tunis in the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday.

Gomis emerged as the hero for Al Hilal as he came off the bench in the 65th minute to score the only goal eight minutes later to steer Al Hilal into the semi-finals where they will meet Copa Libertadores champions Flamengo.

Doha: Mexico's Monterrey defeated Al Sadd SC 3-2 in the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday.

Two first-half goals gave CONCACAF Champions League winners Monterrey a comfortable lead and despite Baghdad Bounedjah and Abdelkarim Hassan finding the back of the net for Qatar's Al Sadd, the Mexicans set up a semi-final meeting with European champions Liverpool.

Al Sadd battle past Hienghène Sport to set up Monterrey date

Doha: Qatar champions Al Sadd Sports Club needed extra time to defeat New Caledonia's Hienghène Sport 3-1 in their FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 first round tie at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Wednesday.

After taking the lead in the first half, Al Sadd lost their advantage as the Oceania champions leveled the tie in the first minute of the second half which then saw several missed chances from Al-Sadd.

Abdelkarim Hassan and Pedro, however, scored a goal each in extra-time to steer Al Sadd to the second round where they will meet CONCACAF Champions League winners FC Monterrey of Mexico on Saturday.

Doha: There is no doubt that Virgil van Dijk is the best defender in the world right now.
