Beijing: Harrison Sawyer’s penalty 19 minutes from time earned Macarthur FC a 2-1 win over Beijing FC at Workers’ Stadium on Thursday as the A-League side sealed top spot in Group E of the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26™.

Kristian Popovic had given Mile Sterjovski’s side the lead in the 56th minute and, although Sai Erjiniao had levelled the scores three minutes later, it was Sawyer’s spot kick after a foul on Luke Vickery that earned Macarthur their fourth win in six matches in the group phase.

 

The Australians move onto 13 points from their six matches to finish ahead of Vietnam’s Cong An Ha Noi with both clubs booking their places in the last 16 while Beijing finish in third place in the group.

Hiroshima: Hayato Araki was pleased to play his part to give outgoing head coach Michael Skibbe a winning farewell after the defender scored the solitary goal in Sanfrecce Hiroshima’s 1-0 win against Shanghai Shenhua FC in their AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ match on Tuesday.

Araki rose highest in the 78th minute to thump home a corner from Naoto Araki to give Sanfrecce the third win of their first continental top tier campaign since 2019.

Hiroshima: Sanfrecce Hiroshima closed their final AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ match of the year with a 1-0 win over Shanghai Shenhua FC in an action-packed encounter at the Hiroshima Soccer Stadium on Wednesday.

Hayato Araki’s strike late in the second half gave Michael Skibbe’s side their second win in five fixtures and moved them up to nine points. China PR’s Shenhua, who are four points adrift, fell to their third consecutive defeat.

Iskandar Puteri: Goalkeeper Chen Wei cut a delighted figure after his heroics earned Shanghai Port FC a goalless draw with Johor Darul Ta’zim in their AFC Champions League Elite™ 2025/26 tie on Tuesday.

Chen Wei made an outstanding 11 saves with the home side registering 48 shots, including 12 on target to earn the Chinese Super League side only the second point of their campaign.

Kobe: It was a bittersweet ending for Takayuki Yoshida after his time at Vissel Kobe came to a close following a 2-2 draw with Chengdu Rongcheng FC in their AFC Champions League Elite™ 2025/26 tie on Tuesday.

After over four years with Vissel, Yoshida will take over at Shimizu S-Pulse for the 2026 season but the 48-year-old tactician is leaving the club top of the East Zone standings with 13 points, as well as with two league titles and one cup success.

Iskandar Puteri: Johor Darul Ta’zim squandered a host of opportunities as Shanghai Port picked up their second point of the AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ on Tuesday with Kevin Muscat’s side sharing a 0-0 draw with the Malaysia Super League champions.

Port goalkeeper Chen Wei was in inspired form between the posts for the visitors as he repeatedly frustrated the JDT attack in the opening 45 minutes, who also hit the woodwork twice in the second half through Bergson and Nacho Mendez.

The draw moves JDT onto eight points from six matches while Shanghai Port remain bottom of the standings with two points ahead of the two-month break in the league phase of the competition.

Kobe: Vissel Kobe’s hopes of early Round of 16 qualification were dashed after a 2-2 draw with Chengdu Rongcheng FC in their AFC Champions League Elite™ 2025/26 tie at the Kobe City Misaki Park Stadium on Tuesday. 

The sides exchanged leads, with Yoshinori Muto’s first-half strike cancelled out by a brace from Felipe only for Daiju Sasaki to strike a late equaliser for Vissel. 

The hard-fought draw means the Japanese side remain at the top of the East Zone with 13 points with Chengdu on six.
