Hisor: Sheriddin Boboev’s first half strike secured Tajikistan a vital 1-1 draw with the Philippines as the Central Asian side booked their spot at the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ with a top-place finish in Group A of the Final Round of the Qualifiers on Tuesday.

Both sides finished level on 14 points, with Tajikistan advancing due to a superior goal difference as the Philippines suffered the heartbreak of missing out.

Melbourne: Chinaza Uchendu stepped off the bench to score a spectacular 90th minute winner as last season’s runners-up Melbourne City FC booked their place in the AFC Women’s Champions League 2025/26™ semi-finals with a 2-1 win over Uzbekistan’s PFC Nasaf on Sunday.

The Nigerian forward was introduced in the 82nd minute and struck less than eight minutes later when she flicked the ball over her own head before crashing a vicious shot past the flat-footed Maftuna Jonimqulova.

The win, which came after Holly McNamara’s 38th minute opener for City was cancelled out in the 42nd minute by Zarina Mamatkarimova, means Michael Matricciani’s side will take on Japan’s Tokyo Verdy Beleza in the semi-finals in May.

Having suffered elimination at the same stage last season with Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies, the 61-year-old Kusunose was delighted to overcome the hurdle in his second attempt after a controlled performance from the reigning Japan WE League champions.

Tokyo: Tokyo Verdy Beleza eased into the semi-finals of the AFC Women’s Champions League 2025/26™ on Saturday with a comfortable 5-0 win over Stallion Laguna from the Philippines moving the Japanese side into the last four.

Moka Hiwatari broke the visitors’ resistance in the 41st minute while Nanmi Kitamura and Hikaro Naomoto added to the advantage of Naoki Kusunose’s side with goals in the 48th and 71st minutes respectively.

Miyu Matsunaga hit her side’s the fourth in the 82nd minute and Rihona Ujihara stroked the fifth home with four minutes remaining and the WE League side will take on Melbourne City FC from Australia or PFC Nasaf of Uzbekistan in the semi-finals, which will be played on May 20.
