Jakarta: Vietnam notched a comfortable 2-0 win over Lebanon in their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ Group B tie on Thursday.

The win places Diego Giustozzi’s men, who defeated Kuwait 5-4 in their opener, well placed to advance to the knockout stage with Thailand their opponents on Saturday.

Jakarta: Vietnam captain Nguyen Manh Dung’s goal just before half-time in their Group B opener against Kuwait at the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ was the moment that turned the match to his side’s advantage.

The goal came at a time when team morale had started to flag after Kuwait scored their third in the 19th minute - this after Vietnam had come from 2-0 down to level.

The strike galvanised the Southeast Asia side, and Manh Dung went on to net a second as he led his teammates to a dominating second-half performance that ended 5-4 in their favour.

Jakarta: Thailand and Vietnam will aim to confirm their AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ knockout stage spots with a game to spare on Thursday.

With both having registered wins on Tuesday, victories will see them booking their quarter-final spots and setting up a thrilling finale to decide the Group B winners two days later. 

Thailand, the 2024 runners-up, beat Lebanon 2-0 in their opener while Vietnam exchanged blows with Kuwait before emerging 5-4 victors.

Jakarta: Vietnam came from behind twice to defeat Kuwait 5-4 in a fast-paced AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026™ Group B tie at the Jakarta International Velodrome on Tuesday.

The result places Diego Giustozzi’s side at the top of the group, ahead of Thailand on goal difference after the latter defeated Lebanon 2-0 in the earlier fixture.

Jeddah: Vietnam head coach Kim Sang-sik lauded his team’s spirited performance after the Southeast Asian side edged Korea Republic on penalties to finish third in the AFC U23 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ on Friday.

Despite being reduced to 10 men following captain Nguyen Dinh Bac’s red card, Vietnam held out for a 2-2 draw before winning the penalty shootout 7-6, with goalkeeper Cao Van Bình denying Bae Hyun-seo’s spot-kick to ensure his side finished on a high note following their semi-final disappointment.

Vietnam edge Korea Republic on penalties to finish third

Jeddah: Vietnam defeated Korea Republic 7-6 on penalties to secure third place in the AFC U23 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ at the King Abdullah Sports City Hall Stadium on Friday.

In a thrilling tie which ended 2-2 after extra time, Nguyen Quoc Viet’s opener was cancelled out by Kim Tae-won with Nguyen Dinh Bac then restoring the Southeast Asian side’s lead.

The Vietnam captain was, however, sent off late in the game, with Korea Republic equalising through Shin Min-ha deep into added on time to force an additional 30 minutes and the penalty shootout, with goalkeeper Cao Van Bình saving the seventh spot-kick to secure third place for his side.
