Kuala Lumpur: After settling for runners-up medals in the last three seasons, Kaya FC-Iloilo finally emerged as the champions of the Philippines this week after their closest challengers Cebu FC dropped points against Stallion Laguna which secured the Iloilo City-based outfit their first-ever league title. 

DR Congo international striker Jonathan Bolingi has now scored in back-to-back FA Cup finals for Buriram United as his double against Bangkok United in Sunday’s title decider ensured successive trebles for the Thunder Castle, who became the first team to achieve that feat in Thailand.

West Asia Wrap: Al Ittihad clinch title; Sharjah win Pro League Cup

Doha: Al Ittihad ended a 14-year wait as they won the 2022-23 Saudi Pro League title with a match to spare on Friday.

Marinos are hot on their heels as Kevin Muscat’s side triumphed over Avispa Fukuoka to remain three points behind.

Unbeaten Chengdu Rongcheng handed Shanghai Shenhua their first defeat of the season in China PR during the midweek, displacing their opponents from second place, but leaders Shanghai Port continue to be in the driver’s seat as they too remain unbeaten in the league and have a game in hand.

Korea Republic join Uzbekistan in knockout stage

Mendoza: Korea Republic sealed their spot in the FIFA U20 World Cup Argentina 2023 Round of 16 after a 0-0 stalemate against Gambia in their final Group F tie on Sunday.

The result meant the Young Taeguk Warriors remained unbeaten and finished second behind Gambia with France, who defeated Honduras 3-1, third.
 
Korea Republic will meet Ecuador in the Round of 16 on Thursday while Uzbekistan, Asia’s other representative in the knockout stage, will play  Israel on Tuesday.

Mendoza: Japan's FIFA U20 World Cup Argentina 2023 hopes suffered a setback after a 2-1 defeat to Israel in their final Group C tie on Saturday.

The result meant Israel finished on four points, second behind Colombia with Japan third., with their haul ultimately not enough to advance to the Round of 16.

Munich: Former AFC Women’s Player of the Year Saki Kumagai has confirmed she will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the current season.

The 32-year-old, who was crowned Asia’s leading female player in 2019, revealed on social media that she planned to leave the Bavarian outfit following Sunday’s game against Potsdam after two seasons with the club.
