Abu Dhabi: Saudi Arabia continued their preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in style as they defeated Iceland 1-0 in an international friendly at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in UAE on Sunday.

The match was the fourth friendly for Saudi Arabia in their UAE preparatory camp, having previously defeated North Macedonia 1-0 before sharing draws with Albania and Honduras.

The Saudis will play matches against Panama and 2018 FIFA World Cup runners-up Croatia before heading to Qatar where they will open their Group C campaign against Argentina on November 22.

Baghdad: The Iraqi Football Association announced on Sunday the appointment of Jesus Casas as the men's national team head coach.

Spaniard Casas, who has signed a four-year contract, replaces Radhi Shenaishil who was recently appointed as the national U-23 head coach.

Shenaishil had temporarily assumed the senior team position following Iraq's fourth placed finish in Group A of the AFC Asian Qualifiers - Road to Qatar™.
