Cairo: Al Ain FC of the United Arab Emirates saw their journey in the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup 2024 come to an end after going down 3-0 against Al Ahly of Egypt at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday.

Wessam Abou Ali gave Al Ahly the lead going into the break before further goals from Emam Ashour and Mohamed Afsha secured the win for the 2023–24 CAF Champions League winners.

Afif and Seike feted as Asia’s best at dazzling AFC Annual Awards

Seoul: Qatar icon Akram Afif and Japan star Kiko Seike were crowned the AFC Player of the Year in the men’s and women’s categories respectively on a starry Tuesday night at the AFC Annual Awards Seoul 2023 in Korea Republic.

The duo took home the biggest prizes at the 28th edition of the ceremony, held at the magnificent Grand Peace Palace of the Kyung Hee University, which also saw 19 other awards handed out as the best of Asia were honoured.

Seoul: Qatari maestro Akram Afif was recognised for a stunning 2023/24 season with the AFC Player of the Year accolade on Tuesday night at the AFC Annual Awards Seoul 2023.

The 27-year-old became the first Qatari to win the award twice as he collected the gleaming trophy at the 28th edition of the ceremony, which was staged at the Grand Peace Palace of the Kyung Hee University in Seoul.
