Colombo: Last year’s runners-up KRL bounced back from their opening goalless draw with Bangladesh champions Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited by defeating Ugyen Academy 3-0 in the penultimate round of 2014 AFC President’s Cup Group A matches on Friday.
KRL needed just 60 seconds to get on the scoresheet courtesy of Yasir Afridi before fellow midfielder Muhammad Dawood doubled the Pakistan powerhouse’s lead 13 minutes later.
To their credit, the Bhutanese side held out until one minute into second-half stoppage time when substitute Muhammad Qasim added a third as KRL moved up to four points ahead of their final Group A match against hosts Sri Lanka Air Force on Sunday.
