Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has offered its condolences to the family, friends and teammates of former Singapore international Hafiz Rahim who passed away at the age of 36 on Thursday.
The former Geylang United and Warriors FC attacker made his debut for the Lions in 2011, earning nine caps and scoring one goal before his final outing against Laos in Vientiane in 2014. His greatest achievement was being part of Singapore’s AFF Cup-winning squad in 2012.
Having enjoyed similar success in his club career, Hafiz made his professional debut with Geylang International in 2003, and his defining moment came in 2009 when he scored the winning goal as the Eastern based club clinched their first-ever Singapore Cup title.
He also won the Singapore Premier League title with Warriors FC in 2014, before going on to feature for Gombak United and Home United and finally called time on his illustrious club career in 2017 after a season with Tampines Rovers.
The thoughts and prayers of the AFC and the rest of the Asian football family are with Hafiz's family, friends and the Football Association of Singapore during this difficult time.
