Doha: Qatar Stars League champions Al Sadd SC have announced that Akram Afif has renewed his contract, with the 2019 AFC Player of the Year signing on until 2025.
Keeping the 23-year-old forward was one of the main targets of Spanish head coach Xavi, who has also recently extended his contract for another year.
“I’m working with the club’s management during the current period on a number of issues,” said Xavi previously to Al Sadd's website. “The most important of which is the renewal of Akram Afif’s contract.”

Tashkent: The resumption of international football in Asia is set to feature a clash between two of the continent’s heavyweights, following the Uzbekistan Football Association’s announcement of a September friendly match against Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday.
The clash – to be held at Tashkent’s Bunyodkor Stadium on September 7 – will come three days after Vadim Abramov’s Uzbekistan side host neighbours Tajikistan in their first home international since November 2019.

Berlin: RB Leipzig announced on Wednesday the signing of Hwang Hee-chan from their sister club Red Bull Salzburg to replace Timo Werner, but the Korea Republic forward is unavailable for the UEFA Champions League next month.
The 24-year-old inherits the number 11 shirt Werner vacated when he left for Chelsea last month. Hwang has agreed a five-year contract in a transfer reportedly worth nine million euros.
He is the 17th player in eight years to move from Salzburg to Leipzig as both clubs are backed by Austrian energy drink giant Red Bull.
