Dushanbe: Dordoi Deputy Director Kanatbek Akmatov has said that the Kyrgyzstan giants are ready for any team that stands in the way of them claiming a third AFC President’s Cup title.
Speaking after the official draw for the final stage of the 2012 edition of the tournament for ‘developing nations’ the placed Dordoi in tough-looking Group A alongside hosts FC Istiklol and last year’s runners-up Phnom Penh Crown, Akmatov remarked:
“The draw result is fine for us. Our only target is to win the championship and we are ready to compete with any other team.”
Dordoi, winners in 2006 and 2007 and runners-up in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2010, begin their quest to appear in the AFC President’s Cup final for an unprecedented seventh time in eight tournaments on September 24 against Istiklol.
Two days later they renew acquaintances with Phnom Penh Crown, who they defeated 1-0 in their qualifying stage match in Cambodia courtesy of Azamat Baymatov’s 90th minute penalty.
