Carpenter set for European champions Lyon

Lyon: Australian full-back Ellie Carpenter is set to join six-time UEFA Women’s Champions League winners Olympique Lyonnais, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old joins what is arguably the most dominant club in the women’s football world from American outfit Portland Thorns, with the clubs agreeing on undisclosed transfer terms.

Lyon are the winners of the past four European titles and home to some of the world’s top players, including 2018 Ballon d’Or winner Ada Hegerberg and 2019 AFC Women’s Player of the Year Saki Kumagai.
