FAM strengthens commitment in Child Safeguarding

Male: The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) is the latest Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Member Association to strengthen its commitment towards protecting the welfare and safety of children across the Continent with the launch of the ‘FAM Child Safeguarding Policy’ in partnership with leading non-government organisation (NGO) Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC).

Launched by First Lady Her Excellency Fazna Ahmed at a special ceremony held at the National Football Stadium, which was attended by the President of FAM Bassam Adeel Jaleel and ARC’s Executive Committee Member Muruthala Moosa, the policy was drafted in line with the laws and regulations of Maldives and the standards and requirements established by FIFA and the AFC.

PFA launches awareness programmes for youth and people with disabilities

Ramallah: The Palestine Football Association (PFA) has organised a series of campaigns to raise awareness on child safeguarding and to promote inclusivity in the PFA’s football programmes. 

The awareness campaigns focused on the safety of children as well as to help those involved in football to understand the needs of people with disabilities.

NFABD shares child safeguarding knowledge with coaches

Bandar Seri Begawan: Aspiring female coaches joined the Child Safeguarding Introductory Course organised by the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) to learn the importance of child safeguarding.

Launched by NFABD President Pengiran Haji Matusin bin Pengiran Haji Matasan, 20 coaches joined the first-of-its-kind course, which was held on the AFC Women’s Football Day on March 8, in collaboration with two marquee empowerment programmes in the country - Project Women and Girls Development Brunei.

BFF accelerates advocacy on child safeguarding

Thimphu: The promotion of child safeguarding has been gaining momentum across the Continent with the Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) the latest Member Association to commence the process of drafting a comprehensive policy aimed at helping their coaches understand the rights of children in football. 

BFF has presented the subject to their coaches including those working in grassroots programmes and in AFC A licence coaching courses to equip them with the knowledge and value of child safeguarding.

Child Protection programme concludes in Maldives

Male: A two-day child protection programme, conducted by Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC), a Non-Governmental Organisation who protect the rights and well-being of children in the Maldives, and Football Association of Maldives (FAM) Foundation, has concluded in Male.

The programme engaged 25 participants, which included coaches, managers and staff from football academies and clubs. The sessions covered relevant topics such as ways to recognise signs of abuse, reporting mechanisms, and how to respond when children reach out and disclose abuse.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) ambitions to ensure the highest standards of Safeguarding and the protection of children and young people across the Continent marked a landmark step forward today with the launch of the ground-breaking AFC-FIFA Safeguarding Orientation Webinar.

The first-of-its-kind webinar will engage more than 100 participants from 46 AFC Member Associations (MA) as well as the five AFC Regional Associations (RA), with the aim of widening the essential understanding on the importance, application, and delivery of safeguarding in football, while increasing awareness of the pivotal role of MAs in ensuring a safe and secure environment for children and young people.

Participants hail informative AFC-FIFA Safeguarding Orientation Webinar

Kuala Lumpur: The landmark AFC-FIFA Safeguarding Orientation Webinar has successfully concluded after more than 100 participants from 46 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Member Associations as well as all five AFC Regional Associations (RA) joined the online programme.

The virtual webinar was staged in a four-part series where key speakers Kathryn Leslie, FIFA's Head of Safeguarding and Child Protection and Gloria Viseras, FIFA Senior Event Safeguarding Manager, shared their insights into the FIFA Guardians™ programme and toolkit launched by the world governing body in July last year.
